Valentine’s Day Family Activities

Valentine’s Day is for Family too!

Valentine’s Day is a holiday centered around love, happiness and sweets! Although most people may not initially think of family when it comes to Valentine’s Day, there are several family-oriented activities that make February 14 more than a day for lovebirds.

Baking:  Bond in the Kitchen

Baking and bonding go hand-in-hand. Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to get in the kitchen and bake up some sweet treats. Cakes, cookies and pies are Valentine’s Day staples and they’re also just as fun to make as they are to eat.

Breakfast: Elevate the First Meal of this Special Day

Elevate the first meal of the day! It not only sets the tone for the day, it’s also an opportunity to have fun and get creative.

  • Want to go all out? Consider heart-shaped waffles or pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream.
  • Fancy? Try eggs Benedict.
  • Understated? Try French toast with powdered sugar or a twist on the classic egg-in-the-hole (make that hole in the bread heart-shaped).
  • Southern? Alabama’s gem, Brenda Gantt, shares cooking techniques for her wildly popular southern biscuits.

Crafts: Create Keepsakes to last a Lifetime

Crafting is a fun way to get creative while also making keepsakes that can last a lifetime. Another great thing about crafting is that it’s a great way to reuse old items around the house.

Volunteering: Share treats with those who Might be Left Out on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is all about spreading the love, and volunteering as a family is a great way to show the community a little love. People at local homeless shelters and nursing homes are often left out on this sentimental holiday. Delivering some of the bake goods or crafts your family created is sure to warm the hearts of all recipients and make their Valentine’s Day one to remember.
