Summer Reading Program includes loads of great activities for all ages including reading challenges, special performers, crafts, games, movies, book clubs and more. Registration for the summer is free and open to all.

Summer Kick Off:

Join MPL as they kick off their Summer Library Celebration and celebrate our community with fun activities, music and much more! This is a great time to register for the summer and start the reading challenge.
2023 Special Performers:
June 5-8: Deborah Ferguson: The Dancing Story Lady – Professional storytelling featuring African songs and dancing.
June 12-15: Excelsior Band – Mobile’s favorite Mardi Gras band will perform songs and share jazz history.
June 20-22: Librarian’s Special – Most libraries will have a unique program this week.
June 26-29: Wayne Curtis and the Mobile Alabama Africatown Drummers – A hands on introduction to polyrhythm, timing, and listening while learning African and Afro Caribbean rhythms and their impact on popular music.
July 3-6: Librarian’s Special – Most libraries will have a unique program this week.
July 10-13: Mobile Environmental Studies Center’s Wildlife of Mobile Road Show – Learn about the wonders of Mobile’s local animals!
July 17-20: Puppets N’ Banjos with David Stephens – Meet Chubbly the puppet and enjoy banjo sing-a-longs!
July 24-27: Juggler Ron Anglin “One of a Kindness” – Songs, stories, and juggling tricks!
