Sand Mountain Potato Festival

Event Details

Celebrate the Fourth with Henagar!

The Sand Mountain Potato Festival is the pride and joy of Henagar. A community tradition since 1983, this festival is a small-town celebration with a lot of heart!

The day begins with a patriotic parade that ends in the city park, drawing attendees to the stage for an opening ceremony where the local boy scout troop will raise the American flag.

Throughout the day the park is buzzing with activities, such as the Library’s annual cornhole tournament, volleyball tournament, antique car show, antique tractor show, and games for the kids. Craft and food vendors from all over the Southeast bring their wares and specialties to delight the crowd.

Live entertainment includes a mixture of Southern Gospel, Country, Bluegrass, and modern hits performed by local favorites. Feel free to sit back in your lawn chair and listen for a while.

Covered pavilions throughout the park provide a place for attendees to rest and to enjoy their potato-inspired dishes. Playground equipment is also open for children to enjoy as the day progresses. Each year the festival culminates with a spectacular fireworks display at dark.
