Lots of Ways to Celebrate Independence Weekend at DeSoto State Park
Independence Day Flag-Making Contest
June 29 – July 1
Make your own homemade flag using white foam board and natural materials to be judged in this fun contest. Materials & flag-making rules will be available at the campground pavilion starting Thursday, June 29. Flags can be turned in any day that week but MUST be turned in no later than 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 1 to be judged. Winners will be announced on DeSoto’s facebook page on Saturday July the 2. Free to participate and open to all ages!
Splish & Splash Pool Party
Friday, June 30 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Join the fun at DeSoto’s 10th Annual Splish & Splash Pool Party! Cool off in the Olympic-size pool, eat ice cream, & enter for door prizes!
Admission: $1.00 per person
Independence Day Parade
Saturday, July 1 beginning at 3 p.m.
This annual event is fun for both children & adults! Decorate your vehicle to show your spirit!
Begins at DeSoto’s Park Headquarters & ends in DeSoto’s Improved Campground in time for the Ice Cream Social. If you wish to ride along in your decorated vehicle, meet at DeSoto’s Park Headquarters at 2:45 p.m. Free to participate!
Ice Cream Social
Saturday, July 1 at 4 p.m.
Bring your own favorite homemade ice cream or other desserts to share with your crew at the Campground Pavilion in DeSoto’s Improved Campground. Flag-Making Contest winners will be announced at the Ice Cream Social. Bring your own comfortable camp chair as seating is limited. Free to participate, & open to everyone! Campground gate will be open.
