CoalFest 2025
The North Alabama community of Brilliant pays tribute to its roots in the coal mining industry with a free festival filling the downtown area with two days of family fun. Held throughout Main Street in downtown Brilliant, CoalFest offers live music, games, a look into the coal mining days, activities for children, arts and crafts, a car show, a motorcycle benefit ride, and more.
Friday: Festivities begin on Friday, May 23, at 5 p.m. with include live music, local food vendors, and craft booths.
Saturday: Saturday’s highlights include a coal mining exhibit, a car and tractor show, a horseshoe tournament, and a motorcycle ride to support a local family in need. A designated kids’ area will offer games and rides.
The musical lineup on Saturday will feature headliner The Band Loula.
Open Tours
Attendees can also participate in guided tours of the historic Train Depot in City Park, with donations accepted. The Brilliant Methodist Church, built by local miners, will be open for tours as well.
Shuttles
Free shuttle services will be provided from downtown to City Park, the Train Depot, and the Methodist Church
Cost
While admission to CoalFest is free, there will be a nominal fee for some children’s activities.
