May Hay Day 2023
May Hay Day is Saturday, May 20, remembering the life & art of Mr. Jim Bird. Hay Day art starts at 8:30 a.m. and there will be food and fun around 2 p.m. Live Music from Kung Fu Gripp will begin at 6 p.m.
Bird’s Farm, a whimsical collection of hay bale art which includes a piggy, tin man, alligator, octopus and much more, was created in 1993 by Jim Bird when his hay baler started spitting out hay bales that were rejected due to their shape. Mr. Bird turned those rejected bales into a giant caterpillar to surprise his wife and that was the start of a collection that now includes dozens more.
Mr. Bird passed away this past April, but his legacy still lives on in his art and his family continues his work. On May 20 they will host their annual “Hay Day” where they will touch up the art, have food and live music, and build a new addition.
