Free 6-week Parent Education Classes available.
Children’s Aid Society’s Effective Parenting Instruction Course (EPIC) is a series of FREE parenting classes for parents with children between the ages of 0-18 years. Class sessions are 6 weeks and meet weekly with an option for morning or evening classes.
The program encourages a more democratic parenting style of providing children choices and fostering responsibility, improving communication between parent and child, and helping children learn through natural and logical consequences. Additional topics including Shaken Baby Prevention, Safe Sleep and Smoking Cessation are discussed.
The classes are available in English and Spanish. Certificate awarded upon completion of all classes.
Sessions address a range of important topics including:
- Understanding children and their behavior
- Encouragement and self-esteem
- Improving communication skills
- Building strong family relationships
- Effective discipline
When:
Day group: Six sessions begin Wednesday, June 9 and meets from 10 a.m. – noon at Jefferson County Family Court
Evening group: Six sessions begin Monday, June 13, 2022 and meets from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Children’s Aid Society.
