2025 April Walking Tours in Alabama

The Alabama Tourism Department’s annual April Walking Tours will occur on Saturday mornings in April and will take place at 31 locations across the state.

Community leaders and volunteers will guide the free tours through historical areas that display art and culture of the city.  The tours will start at 10 a.m. on April 5, 12, 19 and 26. Towns and starting places for the April Walking Tours are listed below.

2025 April Walking Tour Participating Cities and Starting Points

Attalla – Museum of Attalla, 313 5th Ave NW  (Tours on April 12 and 26 ONLY)

Athens – Athens Limestone Visitors Center/Big Spring Memorial Park,  100 N. Beaty St.

Bayou LaBatre – Mariner Park, 13765 South Wintzell Avenue

Birmingham – Fred Shuttlesworth statue at Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, 520 16th St. N (Tour on April 19 ONLY)

Bridgeport – Bridgeport Depot Museum, 116 Soulard Square

Courtland – Courtland Heritage Museum, 262 College Street (Tour on April 19 ONLY)

Cullman – Cullman County Museum, 211 2nd Ave NE

Decatur – Various locations:  Delano Park Rose Garden  (April 5);  Historic Decatur Union Depot (April 12);   Morgan County Archives (April 19);  First Missionary Baptist Church  (April 26)

Elba – Elba Chamber of Commerce, 345 Davis Street

Enterprise – Pea River Historical Society, 108 Main Street

Fairhope – Fairhope Welcome Center, 20 N Section St.

Florence – Various locations: Walnut St. Historic District  (April 5);  Florence City Cemetery (April 12); Forks of Cypress (April 19);  North Court & Seminary Streets (April 26); UNA Campus (May 3)

Foley – Foley Welcome Center, 104 N. McKenzie St.

Gadsden – Greater Gadsden Area Tourism Visitor Center, 623 Broad St., meet at rear of building. Tour Focus: April 5–Broad Street Today; April 12–Art, Sculptures & Murals; April 19–Broad Street in History; April 26–Historic Turrentine District (meet at visitor center for directions to Turrentine Tour starting point).

Helena – Lee Springs Park, 45 Appleford Rd.  Guided tour April 26, self guided tours with information brochure on other Saturdays at 10 a.m.

Huntsville – Alabama Constitution Hall Park, 109 Gates Ave SE  (Tours April 5 and 12 ONLY)

Leeds – Downtown Leeds  (Tour April 12 ONLY, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m., rain date April 26)  The tour will include stops at various locations throughout the city, where participants will learn about the history of Leeds in the 1950s.

Madison – Madison Little Roundhouse, 23 Front St.  (Tours April 19 and 26 ONLY)

Mobile – Visit Mobile Welcome Center, 111 S. Royal St

Montevallo – Bicentennial Park, 710 N Boundary St.  (Tours on April 5, 12 and 26 ONLY)

Montgomery – Kress Building/Prevail Union, 39 Dexter Ave

Monroeville – Monroe County Museum, 31  N. Alabama Ave

Mooresville – Mooresville Historic Post Office, 24995 Lauderdale St.–Tours start at 9:45 a.m.

Moulton – Moulton Baptist Church, 755 Walnut St.  (Tour on April 26 ONLY, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.)  Theme:  Historic homes on East Street.

Pelham – Pelham Recreation Center, 2020 Pelham Park Blvd. (At the pavilion by volleyball court)

Prattville – Prattaugan Museum, 102 E. Main St.

Selma – Selma-Dallas County Public Library, 1103 Selma Ave.

Sheffield – Sheffield City Hall, 600 N Montgomery Ave

Springville – Springville City Museum, 6496 U.S. Hwy 11

Tuscaloosa – Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion, 1305 Greensboro Ave. (Free but registration is required)

Tuscumbia – Corner of 6th and Main Street
